Economics and Financial Services Advisor

Mark Cliffe, Chief Economist at ING Bank, has over 35 years experience in the financial services industry leading research teams analysing the global economy and markets. Since 1998 he has been at ING Group, having previously headed teams at HSBC, Nomura and ANZ.

Throughout his career, Mr Cliffe has travelled the world to provide strategic advice to a wide variety of clients ranging from private investors to multi-national corporations. He has extensive contacts within academia and policy-making and has been widely quoted in the international financial press.

In recent years, Mr Cliffe has analysed disruptive changes in technology, politics and society. He is an advocate of open-source approaches to economic problems, drawing on new methodologies and other disciplines such a psychology, sociology and anthropology. He has been involved in financial innovations applying behavioural insights through digital technology.

Mr Cliffe holds a Masters in Economics from Cambridge University and actively advises a number of leading think tanks.
